Mohamed Abdelgawad
Hey there! I’m an ASIC design engineer who enjoys exploring and working on AI chip design, where I’ve found myself diving into the perfect mix of neural network knowledge from my past research experience and hands-on hardware design experience from the industry. I think it’s pretty cool to combine these two worlds, and I hope to be a key contributor to the field as it evolves.
On the technical side, I’ve worked on the Interconnect and data-movement of AI accelerators and now working on compute. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve worked on so far; credit-based NoC, DMA, controller, HBM, PCIe, CDC, STA, Synthesis, AMBA Interconnect (AXI, AHB, APB), low-power high-throughput design and silicon bring-up, in addition to couple of personal project for accelerating binary neural networks and LLMs inference modelling on AI accelerators. This site is where I share what I’ve learned, what I’m building, and maybe a few things I’m still figuring out.

MSc
Jan 2020 - Dec 2021
Montreal, CA
I hold a Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. My research work was inference latency modelling of BERT on ARM cortex-A multi-core processors, which was published in IEEE SIPS
Tenstorrent
Tensix Design
Nov 2024 - Present
Toronto, CA
Tenstorrent marks an exciting new chapter in my career. I will be working on the compute units in Tenstorrent's IPs and chips; Tensix cores. Working on compute will complement my past industry experience on data movement and interconnect .
Untether AI
Senior ASIC Design Engineer
Dec 2021 - Nov 2024
Toronto, CA
I worked at Untether AI for 3 years on AI accelerators. Particularly, I was developing NOC bridges between UAI communications protocols and external IPs such as PCIe and HBM. I'm proud to have contributed to the development and successful tape-out of SpeedAI240 that achieved new performance and energy-efficiency records in MLPerf benchmarks.
Mos Mos Coffee
Mos Mos Coffee is my go-to for the perfect cup, and their latte? Absolute heaven. So if you're ever thinking of buying me a coffee, now you know! Seriously though, let’s chat. Got ideas, questions, or just want to geek out over coffee and silicon design? Drop me a line—I’m always up for a conversation.
